France Internet Overview
The internet infrastructure in France is highly centralized around Paris, which handles the bulk of national network routing. However, cities like Marseille serve as crucial landing points for submarine cables linking Europe to Asia. France has been rapidly replacing copper ADSL connections with high-speed fiber-to-the-home (FTTH).
Does Your IP Address Change?
Most home broadband and mobile connections in France get a dynamic public IP address, so it can change when your router reconnects or your provider reassigns it. Many mobile networks also put customers behind carrier-grade NAT, where one public address is shared. Static addresses are usually a paid business option.

How to read these numbers
The registry figures count addresses delegated to organisations based in France. The network and city figures count the 87.4 millionIPv4 addresses that geolocate there, which is why the two totals differ. Large address blocks usually geolocate to the owner's headquarters or data centres, so a city's share reflects where networks are registered and hosted, not how many people are online there. Some big holders, such as government, university or corporate networks, are not consumer ISPs at all.
